Alzheimer’s Society: Training for Informal Caregivers
The programme is designed to improve knowledge, skills and understanding of those who support or care for someone living with dementia.
It allows the carers to meet others in the same situation as themselves and to share their learning and experiences in a safe accessible environment.
Each programme will consist of a 2 hour session once a week over 6 weeks. The programme is proven to be most effective if you are able to attend all sessions. The programme will accommodate a maximum of 15 participants. Upcoming Dates

Programme content:
Week 1 – What is Dementia? A chance to meet the other participants and share experiences. The key aspects of dementia and its impacts.
Week 2 – Legal and Financial Issues Explores legal and financial issues to help you understand the importance of planning for the future.
Week 3 – Learning to Manage Insight into the impact of dementia and how to cope.
Week 4 – Communication Behaviour, ability and communication – understanding and awareness of the issues.
Week 5 – Personal Care and Wellbeing Considering the support needs of the person with dementia and how these needs might be met
Week 6 – Available Services What help is available locally and how to access it.
